Though this has shown to be problematic in my life before making decisions, throwing college in the picture has really made it even harder to keep up with myself. As a psychology major, my plan has always been to attend a four year college, which I am in the process of doing, and then after going to graduate school, where I will leave with a higher degree in hopes of opening my own practice of counseling and therapy as I am most interested in the clinical psychology field. But with a set practice of your own, seems like it would hold me back from living to the fullest. So I changed my mind. I hate the thought of being stationed here. Settled down. There is too much I want to see in the world, and not when I'm old and wrinkly. I wanna go explore while I'm young and while I can. So why put it off? I never do things for myself or even remotely close to it, so I figured this might be the time to start. Continuing with psychology, I plan on also choosing a minor or even double majoring and getting my degree here at the University of Alabama. During my time here, I am in the works of putting together a trip to go abroad and spend a summer in the United Kingdom, interning for a social worker to get my foot in the door with a career that interests me. At 12 years old, I started watching a British YouTuber named Zoe Sugg, who sparked my interest in all things overseas. At first I was fascinated by her life in Brighton and soon moved on to doing my own research about places in England, Belgium, Germany and my favorite, Amsterdam. As I grew more serious about visiting these places on my own at some point in my life, I decided why not now? Learning how to incorporate things that excite me, like traveling, into my college education motivates me to provide the best work I can as well as motivates me to work as much as I can while home for breaks and summers to start a savings account for these plans. If all goes well and according to plan, I would love to move there after graduating and finding a job in the same field I will intern for. There is so much of the world I've never seen and would do anything to visit at least once. The food, people, jobs, even the streets and buildings are so different than everything I have ever known here and can not wait to experience it. Going off and doing your own thing, especially in different countries on a different continent, though sounds scary will show a great sense of independence showing that anyone is capable of anything, while also getting the chance to see things you've never seen before and live a new lifestyle. With so much time and adventure ahead of me, I am so excited for what is to come and have realized that doing things for yourself sometimes, is not a bad thing.
